Arranged by the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Diaspora Issues during Global Diaspora Week, Georgia hosted a video contest entitled Diaspora – the Bridge to Motherland: a Video Message to Homeland.
The YouTube video challenge for all Georgian Diaspora members aimed to encourage them to make a creative video about their Georgian Diaspora community, which could reflect the longing for homeland, preserving elements of Georgian customs and culture, independence for the future Georgian generation, and more. The video contest was open to representatives of the Georgian Diaspora all over the world.
All participants who submitted the videos on the Ministry’s YouTube channel received the certificates of appreciation, and the most creative top three winners received IT prizes. The competition was judged by a panel and particular attention was given to content, creativity and relevance. Twenty one videos were submitted from 12 countries (France, Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Armenia, Great Britain, Iran, the Czech Republic, and Ireland).
The top selected videos were from: Gagik Nazaryan (Armenia), “Georgia is my homeland”; Diana Tchankotadze (France), “We shall return”; Givi Tsimakuridze (Russia), “Here’s our little Georgia”; Said Mulian (Iran), “Georgians of Pereidan”; Otar Zaridze (Czech Republic), “Georgia on my Mind. ..”; Lasha Sabashvili (Ireland), ” Dublin Georgians”; Sepa Shardag Beridze (Turkey), “MotherLanguage learning abroad” and Salome Chikhladze (Poland) “My odyssey in foreign labyrinths”. The award ceremony was held on October 16, 2014. Three winners were presented digital cameras by the State Minister personally. For more information visit www.diaspora.gov.ge.
