Celebrating Global Diaspora Week, Drake University presented panelist Leslie Olson, a Project Manager from Oakridge Neighborhood Services who spoke about the diaspora she witnesses and assists in the refugee community in Des Moines, Iowa. The goal was to involve Africans and Eastern Europeans in the conversation, so she brought along a refugee-now-employee from Oakridge to talk about his experiences. Dorothy Pisarski, Communication Associate Professor at Drake University, who is a member of the Polish diaspora in New York City, also shared insights on the impact of diaspora.
