Interview with Turkish Philanthropy Funds’ Leaders

Kingsley Aikins–the the founder of the Dublin-based consultancy, Diaspora Matters, and the former CEO & President of The Worldwide Ireland Funds–interviews  leaders of the Turkish Philanthropy Fund about philanthropy in the Turkish-American diaspora community.  The Turkish Philanthropy Fund is a transnational foundation that connects social needs in Turkey with US donors’ philanthropic interests.


Part I

Elmira Bayrasli is the Chair of the Turkish Philanthropy Fund’s Communications Committee.  She is also the Vice President of Partnerships and Outreach at Endeavor, a New York-based nonprofit supporting high-impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets.  She served as the Chief Spokesperson for the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and assisted Madeleine K. Albright, first when she was the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and then when she became Secretary of State.

Part II

Interview with Özlenen Eser Kalav and Senay Ataselim, members of the Turkish Philanthropy Funds’ Executive Committee.  Ms. Kalav was born and raised in Istanbul. She graduated from Robert College of Istanbul and holds an MS in Biochemistry from Smith College and an MBA in Finance and Management from Columbia Business School.  Ms. Yilzman is the Chief Operating Officer of Turkish Philanthropy Funds.
