On October 13th, as part of Global Diaspora Week 2015, the Regional Diaspora Economic Forum brought together a wide range of participants – the heads of regional Diaspora organizations, prominent academic circles, successful Diaspora entrepreneurs and investors from abroad, government officials and private sector representatives, international and non-governmental organizations. The event was held at the “Expo Georgia” exhibition center.
Participants discussed the most important challenges to transition and promote economic reconstruction of the region. Also on the agenda was detailing how to best mobilize considerable diaspora resources in support of the home country. How best to ensure that a good portion of the entire financial support is earmarked for business development and the private sector, and using professional potential of diaspora for the benefit of Georgia.
Panel discussions were held to identify Diaspora initiatives that reach concrete goals for formulating effective, sustainable strategies for accomplishing tangible results.
The forum was addressed by the members of Georgian Government, heads of the international organizations, as well as the newly appointed US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Ian Kelly.
The forum presented the new diaspora intellectual and financial service programs by partner organizations, as well as explained the diaspora investment projects by the Business Councils and Chambers of Commerce abroad.
