U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton launched IdEA at the inaugural Global Diaspora Forum in May 2011. IdEA is a non-partisan, non-profit organization managed via a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and Calvert Foundation.

U.S. Department of State

The Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships is the entry point for collaboration between the U.S. Department of State, the public and private sectors, and civil society. Launched by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2009, the Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships aims to strengthen and deepen U.S. diplomacy and development around the world through partnerships that leverage the creativity, innovation, and core business resources of partners for greater impact.

U.S. Agency for International Development

The Global Partnerships Team (GP) at the U.S. Agency for International Development builds public-private partnerships that can have some of the most significant and sustainable impact on major development challenges. Since its inception in 2011, GP has led the Agency in forging over 1,000 cross-sector alliances with businesses, non-governmental organizations, foundations, and associations utilizing its Global Development Alliance (GDA) business model to leverage valuable resources and innovative approaches that can more than double the impact of economic and social development initiatives.
