On October 15, Tiagha & Associates hosted an event in conjunction with Global Diaspora Week 2014. Alison Germak from Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) served as the guest speaker and discussed finance options available for global initiatives. OPIC is the U.S. Government’s development finance institution that helps U.S. businesses in emerging markets both at home and abroad. It mobilizes private capital to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy. Because OPIC works with the U.S. private sector, it helps U.S. businesses gain footholds in emerging markets, catalyzing revenues, jobs and growth opportunities both at home and abroad. OPIC achieves its mission by providing investors with financing, guarantees, political risk insurance, and support for private equity investment funds. The event was attended by diasporas and small to medium enterprises that were interested in expanding their global markets.
