Our Entrepreneurship Conference & Awards Gala is StartUpAfrica’s uniquely comprehensive event that has established itself as an important forum for business leaders, entrepreneurs, policy-makers, scholars and aspiring entrepreneurs to gather and exchange ideas around entrepreneurship. It provided attendees with meaningful coverage on current trends in the dynamic economies of both the US and Africa.
This year, on October 17th during Global Diaspora Week, the conference theme “Launch, Grow & Succeed: Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs Today” was enriched by panelists and speakers who gave insights on best practices, success stories, and challenges during their entrepreneurship journeys.
The conference panel sessions were built around three distinct stages that matter to all startup companies:
The Awards Gala is a way for us to provide local, national and international recognition to entrepreneurs, whose successful businesses and achievements contribute immensely to the local, national, global economies as well as to their communities.
We had a fantastic turn out with just shy of 90 people in attendance. There was a wide variety of people in attendance. Two representatives from Small Business Administration (SBA), One representative from Delaware Economic Development Office, a number of diverse panelists from DE, PA, MD, DC, and four Entrepreneurs Award winners, including a long time public education/literacy advocate, poet and playwright who is a longstanding community activist in and for the children of the state of Delaware.
Thank you to our sponsors Strano & Feeley Funeral Home, Ethiopian Airlines, 484 Beyond, All Around Event Planners, Delaware Economic Development Office, Mayor Wilmington, City of Wilmington, Tiagha & Associates, Muthoni Wachira and B & N Accounting.
A big kudos to the volunteers (Tamika, Chanzi, Faith, Patrick, Dorothy, Dee, Norah and Violet) for the many hours you put as the planning committee. Your service is appreciated.
