During GDW 2015 (October 14th) AlliedCrowds launched a mini-report on crowdfunding hoping to layout the main issues and opportunities in diaspora crowdfunding. Working with partners in the future, they will go in depth to create a comprehensive report on crowdfunding in the diaspora space. Global Diaspora Week 2015 was a fantastic opportunity for us to contribute to the growing research on diaspora engagement. With crowdfunding rapidly taking off across the world (rocketing past $35 billion this year alone), we believe it can be a powerful tool to support sustainable development and entrepreneurship opportunities, especially in emerging markets. It was a pleasure to work with the International diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA). IdEA put us in touch with highly relevant groups and we are thrilled that several of them have already cited our research. We hope to build on this, and conduct a full scale study on “Diaspora Crowdfunding”. We look forward to participating again next year!
