Diaspora Movie stars and diaspora performers were invited to perform back home in Georgia for an event we called Diaspora Celebrities Concert. The concert was organized by The Office of State Minister of Georgia for Diaspora Issues and held during GDW 2015!
The event took place on October 14, during Global Diaspora Week, in the V.Saradjishvili Tbilisi Conservatory a classical music concert of Georgian musicians living abroad. Additionally, for our 500 in attendance we showed of films directed by famous Georgians.
State Minister Gela Dumbadze thanked the audience for participating in the Global Diaspora Week 2015. The State Minister awarded State Office’s honorary medals to film directors: Giorgi Danelia, Mikhail Kobakhidze, Irakli Kvirikadze, Revaz Gabriadze and Levan Gigineishvili.
Natela Iashvili-Politkovskaya, Anna Kipiani, Lali Chilaya and Gocha Abuladze also received awards for their musical contributions globally. They each gave a wonderful musical performance, enjoyed by all.
During the concert director Giorgi Danelia video conferenced in and thanked Gela Dumbadze for awarding him a star on their walk of fame. He expressed regret that was not able to attend such an important event. The State Minister handed Giorgi Danelia’s honorary medal to his friend, film director Eldar Shengelaia.
During the concert Katie Melua, UK based Georgian singer addressed the audience via video conference. The star expressed her gratitude to State Minister of Georgia for the invitation and mentioned that she hopes to visit Georgia soon.
